Title of film: Shiver
Shiver (the collective noun for sharks) is an educational film for a Mozambican audience on the shark fin trade. The one-hour documentary follows the story of Carlos Macuacua a fisherman turned diving instructor and conservationist. On this journey of discovery Carlos investigates the reasons for the dramatic declines in shark numbers and what the consequences of this are for both the oceans and local communities. The film is in Portuguese with English subtitles.

Chris Scarffe’s work on shark fisheries has been responsible for a complete paradigm shift in how this much-misunderstood group of fishes is viewed in Mozambique which led to the government improving their management of these threatened species.
